MVTA BRT Study — Comments Due by January 31

A map of the MVTA's proposed BRT route

The Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA), which operates public transit in the south Twin Cities metro, is currently studying the possibility of implementing a bus rapid transit (BRT) route along County Road 42, from Shakopee to Rosemount. This project would share many similarities with the BRT system operated by Metro Transit, including off-board fare payment, fewer stops and improved amenities. MVTA is seeking public comment on the feasibility of the project through an online survey and an interactive map; comments are due by January 31! Learn more about the project on MVTA’s site, where you may also view a recording of an info session hosted last month.

Dale Street Safety Conversion Open House

As part of Ramsey County’s push to improve road safety through future construction projects, the county is collaborating with local governments to plan a four-to-three-lane conversion of Dale Street north of Como Avenue. The project is currently in its public engagement phase, but planners hope to settle on a final design by the end of the year. Consider making your thoughts on the conversion known by attending an open house on Tuesday, January 10, at 4 p.m., at Como High School in St. Paul. Learn more about the project and the event here!
