National cycling meet: Organisers assure proper arrangement – Times of India

JAIPUR: The last time in 2019, when the national cycling championship was held in Jaipur, the organisers Rajasthan Cycling Association had to face severe criticism. With no proper arrangements in place and temperature dipping below 10 degrees Celsius in the month of December, cyclists were housed in a hall below the velodrome at the SMS Stadium.
Mindful of the previous unpleasant experience of the cyclists, the new organisers this year have ensured the participants are not left in the lurch when the 73rd Senior, 50th Junior and 36th Sub Junior National Track Cycling Championships get underway between December 24 and 28.
“The Cycling Federation of India (CFI) has handed over the responsibility to Rajasthan Road Riders, a private club of cyclists from the state, to organise the national event in Jaipur,” said organising secretary and Rajasthan Road Riders president Brijendra Singh.
“We have booked hotels on the basis of triple sharing and no cyclists, men or women, will be made to use the dormitory. Three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, will be provided to everyone at the Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium,” he added.
In a letter to the organising secretary, CFI secretary general Maninder Pal Singh wrote, “Cycling Federation of India will conduct the event and all technical officials will be nominated by the CFI. You will be responsible for the venue, boarding lodging, transportation and other logistical arrangements.”
Teams from across the country will start coming to the city from December 22. “By December 10 it will be clear how many cyclists will come from different states. But we are expecting the number to be around 700,” the organising secretary said.
Some of the big names like Esow Alben, Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam and Rojit Singh will also participate in the national meet.
