Two Shorewood High School Athletes are seeing accolades this week: One was nominated for athlete of the week, the other won a cycling race.

SHOREWOOD, WI — Two Shorewood High School Athletes are seeing accolades this week. One was the winner of a cycling race at Washington Park and the other has been nominated for athlete of the week, Shorewood School District announced on Facebook.

Shorewood Junior Takes First Place At His First Ever Track Cycling Race

Elias Saigh, a junior at Shorewood High School, , Kenosha News reported. Saigh told the publication it was his first time pursuing a track race and that he typically races mountain bikes.

For his first track race, Saigh made quite the splash. After the first few laps Saigh was finding himself in third and fourth place, but in the later sprint laps he quickly overtook the others and rose to the first place spot, he told Kenosha News.

Saigh collected the most points during the race alongside the help of Glendale native Joaquin Medina, Kenosha News reported. The two raced around the track gaining points every five laps, depending on what place they were in, the report said.

Shorewood Senior Nominated For Athlete Of The Week: How To Vote

Another Shorewood athlete has been nominated for the RallyAroundUs Athlete of The Week via over the past week.

Krioutchenkov helped lead the Greyhounds to four separate wins last week with numerous goals and assists of his own, according to his nomination on WisSports. Across four games he netted 12 goals and made six assists, his nomination said.

For last week’s performance, Krioutchenkov has been nominated for Athlete of the Week. Shorewood residents and members of the district community can vote for him until Thursday.
