Cycling Federation to Host Donald’s Challenge Road Race on Sunday, July 25 – Saint Croix Source

Virgin Islands Cycling Federation competitors

The Virgin Islands Cycling Federation (VICF) will host the Donald’s Challenge Road Race at 7 a.m., Sunday, July 25.  The event has been held annually in memory of St. Croix cyclist Donald Christian since 2017.

The race will start and finish at the entrance pillars to Ha’ penny Beach, on St. Croix’s Southside Road.  The 7-mile lap course will take cyclists from the entrance to Ha’ penny, head west to Cane Garden, turn around and head east to Castle Nugent, turn around and head back to Ha’ penny.

Elite: 6 laps (42 miles), Expert: 4 laps (24 miles), Sport/Masters/Women: 2 laps (14 miles), Juniors: 1 lap (7 miles). Due to the flatness and distance of the course, this is a good race for beginner cyclists. All are welcome to join. Helmets must be worn.

On-site race-day registration will be open from 6:15-6:45 a.m. All attendees must wear a face covering before and after the race and are asked to maintain a 6-foot distance from others.
