The program will kick off with the Adelaide Track League at the Adelaide SuperDrome on tonight.
Tokyo-bound track guns Matt Glaetzer, Nathan Hart, Annette Edmondson, Maeve Plouffe and Sam Welsford (to name a few) are expected to get a rousing reception from track fans.
They are just one part of the Australian Tokyo Olympic Games track team that will headline the event to open the Santos Festival of Cycling.
Track will be followed by a 4-stage National Road Series (NRS) race with Men’s and Women’s stages showcasing the Barossa, Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu regions.
Each stage of the women’s and men’s road racing will take place on the same day, creating an exciting experience for spectators as they witness some of Australia’s best cycling athletes.
The 2020 Santos Tour Down Under winner Richie Porte returns to South Australia after his historic third place at the Tour De France, only the second Australian in history to stand upon the podium in Paris.
Richie will ride against Australia’s own WorldTour Professional cycling team “BikeExchange”, with a squad of past winners and champions, sporting their new colours and kit.
The race route is going to be raced hard and provides some entertaining racing through our iconic South Australian regions.
There are some great viewing areas so fans can spread out along the road while cheering on the Aussie’s as they speed along crowd favourites such as Mengler Hill, Fox Creek and Snapper Point.
The elite riders aren’t the only ones that can challenge themselves at the event.
Get involved, be part of the community, and ride like the elite in an event first, with the Virtual Challenge Tour powered by FulGaz.
Tackle some of the most iconic TDU race routes including Willunga Hill, and the punchy Adelaide Hills circuit last used in 2019 where Peter Sagan (3 x World Champion) won back-to-back two years running.
Registration is free to compete the challenge, 21-24 January, plus you get a free month trial with FulGaz.
“FulGaz is as realistic as you can get,” says Luke Durbridge, Team BikeExchange and FulGaz Ambassador.
