Hyderabad: A lake view night market, two 80-seater boats and one cycling track would add to the attractions of Hussainsagar Lake soon. Grills are being replaced, lights put in place and walkway for the market is being built.
The night bazar would run 1,300 metres along the lake. A municipal administration and urban development department official told the Times of India, “We have taken up architectural lighting. Works are being executed duly in compliance with the Supreme Court-appointed committee recommendations.”
The works are being executed without tampering preservation and conservation aspects of Hussainsagar, he added. The market will have seating arrangements facing the lake and exclusive parking lot. Granite footpaths, lighting, wood plastic composite deck along the lake was some of the characteristics.
All stalls coming up in the market will be made out of pre-fabricated fibre reinforced plastic. A cycling track is being built on Necklace Road. B.L.N. Reddy, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority chief engineer said, “A part of the newly-laid vacuum-dewatered cement concrete road has been marked as the cycling track. The cycling track is 7km long with a width of around 1.5 metres on either side.”
The construction of cycling track has almost been completed, while tenders pertaining to night bazar have been floated, Reddy added. Civic works, including replacing the flooring near statues located near the lake, has been started.
Both the cruises have two floors each. A state tourism official said, “These cruises are eco-friendly; the motors are equipped with zero emission technology.”
Following the orders of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao, the HMDA is taking up the development of the lakefront market along the shoreline between Sanjeevaiah Park and Buddha Bhavan.
