Mountain Biking

Concord Bikes: Almost like flying on 2 wheels – The Patriot Ledger

By Roman Petronko

Editor’s note: Concord Bikes is a volunteer community group that promotes safe bicycling for all. Here’s the latest installment of Why I Bike.

Hi! I am Roman. I am 11 years old and I love to mountain bike.

For me, mountain biking is the closest thing to flying, because I get to go so fast and I get to go off jumps. I like to build pump tracks and jumps in my backyard.

Every summer I go to bike camp at Concord Academy where I learn how to fix my bike and how biking can be a group sport for all levels of riders. I also like mountain biking because it is very technical and gives me a challenge.

Mountain biking takes me out into nature and I can see some very pretty places. I love to record my adventures on my Go Pro so that I can look back and remember how much fun that bike ride was.

Mountain biking helps me with my fitness and it even gives me a break from my family during the pandemic.
