LEM Helmets-Sponsored Pro Women’s Cycling Team BePink Sets Sights on Amgen Tour Of California – SNEWS

Italian-based team poised to compete in the U.S. for the 3-stage, 177-mile road race starting May 16

MORGAN HILL, Calif. (May 14, 2019): This week, the Italian-based UCI pro women’s cycling team BePink will compete at the 3-day Amgen Tour of California road race from May 16-18. The team, sponsored by LEM Helmets, manufacturer of performance-driven cycling helmets for road, mountain, commute, and kids, will race exclusively in limited-edition pink colorways of LEM’s standout road race helmets the Gavia and Volata. BePink’s team of six world-class cyclists will tackle the 177-mile, multi-stage race that features varied terrain with sprints and steep climbs.

“We are very pleased to come back to the Tour of California – it’s a very nice race and very well organized,” said Walter Zini, BePink’s Team Manager. “Our selection will be formed by young and more expert riders. This year all the stages will be quite hard, but we are sure that our entire team will do the best to catch good results. If the occasion presents, we will try and play our cards right to maximize our efforts.”

Over the course of three days, the BePink team will race from Ventura to Pasadena. This year, the women’s course is the longest in race history, with 20,000 feet of elevation over the length of the event – making it one of the most challenging road races on the UCI pro women’s cycling circuit. The BePink team will race against 16 of the top cycling teams in the world.

The BePink squad racing in California include: Rachele Barbieri, Simona Frapporti, Tatiana Guderzo, Chiara Perini, Silvia Valsecchi, and Silvia Zanardi. The team brings a mix of expertise and experience which will showcase its depth, focus, and strength.

Thus far in 2019, the team has had successful campaigns at the Santos Tour Down Under and Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in Australia, the Strade Bianche in Italy, a win at the Grand Prix Féminin de Chambéry, and more.

The team will be racing in two of LEM’s collection of road helmets. The Gavia is designed with safety technology and performance built-in, and takes its name from the iconic Italian Passo Gavia in the Alps, one of the most feared and famous uphill climbs in the Giro d’Italia. The Volata takes its name from the Italian phrase “final sprint” throughout Italian cycling, and is designed to enhance the riding experience with its comfortable and light fit, helping to streamline the rider whilst racing.

“We’re excited to support BePink at the Tour of California and watch them compete on U.S. soil. The talented team has had a successful start to its season and we hope that continues this week,” said Keith Cozzens, Global Brand Marketing Director at LEM Helmets. “The team has been racing in our Gavia and Volata road helmets since the start of the season, and both offer the comfort, ventilation, and lightweight feel the riders want. We’ll be cheering loudly for them at the Tour.”

BePink takes to the starting line at 12:00pm PST on May 16th. To follow the BePink team during the Tour, visit the Tour of California – Tour Tracker.
